The climate for San Angelo is moderate. In the winter, temperatures never become extreme. Snow very rarely falls, but it does happen from time to time. Summers are nice with low humidity offsetting the higher temperatures. There are about 251 days of sunshine each year in San Angelo.

Schools
Twenty-three public facilities offer preschool, elementary and secondary education, while six private and/or parochial schools are certified through the 12th-grade level. The public system also operates four special education schools for vision- and hearing-impaired students, as well as those with other special needs. The San Angelo Independent School District consists of two high schools, one freshman campus, three middle schools, 17 elementary schools, three head start campuses and one alternative campus.

Health Care
San Angelo has two acute care hospitals: Shannon Medical Center and San Angelo Community Medical Center. With over 150 physicians and 40 dentists practicing multiple specialties, San Angelo is widely recognized as a regional medical center. Cancer treatment, testing and surgical capabilities for cardiology patients, sports medicine, and a designated trauma center and neonatal intensive care unit are among the many services available. Other specialized medical facilities include: a 32-bed acute care center, a regional rehabilitation center, a geriatric care facility and a mental health and drug rehabilitation hospital. In the late 1990s, several assisted living complexes were built in San Angelo. There are currently seven nursing homes and an additional 10 retirement centers that provide a variety of living accommodations and levels of care, including Alzheimer's care.

Culture
San Angelo is a city in and the county seat of Tom Green County, Texas. It is also the principal city of the \San Angelo, Texas Metropolitan Statistical Area\" that includes all of Irion and Tom Green counties. The city is located at the confluence of the North Concho River and South Concho River, which in turn form the Concho River, a tributary of the Colorado River (in Texas, not to be confused with the Colorado River in Colorado and Arizona). Local sports teams include the San Angelo Colts, a United League Baseball minor league team; as well as the San Angelo Stampede Express, a minor league indoor football team.

Goodfellow Air Force Base is also located at the city's outskirts. The primary tasks of the units stationed there are intelligence specializing in linguistics training and firefighter training."
